Fans are begging for movie to be made about Olympic tennis duo after discovering they broke up just days before winning gold

Kateřina Siniaková and Tomáš Macháč won gold in the tennis mixed doubles at the Paris Olympics

Kateřina Siniaková and Tomáš Macháč have created a buzz online after they won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, seemingly breaking the internet when they kissed during the celebrations.

The Czech tennis players defeated China’s Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen during the final of the mixed doubles on Friday (August 2).

It comes after Siniaková confirmed at the Prague Open last month that she and Machac had broken up after four years together.

She told Blesk.cz: “Yes, it’s true, but this is my private matter. Of course we will play, we are professionals after all.”

However, when it was time for the tennis players to accept their medals at the Olympics, they hugged and kissed one another.

When a reporter at the post-victory news conference asked if they are still together, Siniaková kept them on their toes.

As per the Associated Press, she responded: “That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that.

“We like when you are confused.”

Machac then chimed in: “This is top secret.”

Despite their unknown relationship status, fans have speculated that Siniaková and Macháč have gotten back together and even called for a movie to be made about them.

One fan wrote: “It’s so poetic if they really had broken up and these last days of winning and getting the gold eventually brought them back together.”

A second added: “Netflix or Hallmark needs to make a movie about their story!”

Referencing the film Challengers, someone else commented: “Welcome back Tashi Duncan et Patrick Zweig.”

While one user penned: “Hollywood, if you know what’s good for you… you won’t find a better plot line for a sports romcom.”

And another demanded: “Someone needs to write this sports rom-com ASAP – two professional tennis players who break up after multiple years of dating, only to reunite weeks later to win gold at the Olympics. It’s cinematic gold.”

Siniaková took to X to thanks fans for their support after winning the doubles.

She wrote: “That was unreal. Thanks everyone for supporting us so happy with the result we have achieved.”

As for Machac, he instead thanked fellow athlete Lukáš Krpálek for being with him in Paris.

He wrote on Instagram: “Role model, Champion, Fighter, Heartbeat, Representative and Olympic Gold winner, an honor, to share this moment and in something to try to at least imitate you and come closer to you thank you for the photo and we keep fighting.”

The mixed doubles bronze went to Gabriela Dabrowski and Félix Auger-Aliassime who were representing Canada.
