Tom Hanks is an acting powerhouse and I’ll say that with my chest.

From helpless cries of ‘Wilson’ to explaining the life lessons in a box of chocolates and living out in an airport for a year, Tom Hanks has cemented himself as an acting powerhouse.

However, with such an impressive filmography including the likes of Captain Phillips, Toy Story, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, sometimes really good films can get lost.

And some film buffs have praised a classic Hank that some fans might have missed out on.

If you still don’t know what film they are talking about I’ll give you a hint, Hanks stars alongside Michael Clarke Duncan in the film, who also provides viewers with a moving and gut-wrenching performance.

Well, I’ll put you out of your misery, the film is the Frank Darabont directed Green Mile that released in 1999, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

Hanks plays Paul Edgecomb, a commanding officer of a death row cell block in a Louisiana penitentiary in 1932.

Edgecomb realizes gentle giant John Coffey, played by Duncan, has a gift for healing people, and attempts to stave off his execution.

The Green Mile was received both well by fans and critics – with the film maintaining an impressive 8.6 score after over 1.4 million reviews on IMDb, while on Rotten Tomatoes it holds a Tomatometer score of 79 percent and an incredible 94 percent audience score after over 250,000 ratings.

And speaking in the Netflix Bangers Facebook page, many fans remarked that the film is so ‘brilliant’ that it often leaves them in a pool of tears.
