Hugh Jackman’s fans spot heartbreaking detail in pre-Met Gala photo following split from wife Deborra-Lee Furness

As Hugh Jackman got ready for the Met Gala, fans noticed a sad detail about his photos following his divorce.

Jackman shared a snapshot of himself dressed to the nines for the prestigious Met Gala, joining a plethora of other A-list stars and celebrities at “the biggest night in fashion” on Monday, May 6.

While not necessarily adhering to this year’s theme of Garden of Time, the 55-year-old donned a classic black and white tuxedo complete with a bowtie and polished shoes.

Since 2004, Jackman had been a regular attendee of the Met Gala alongside his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, having attended the event six times together.

However, this year marked a change, with Jackman posing alone on the red carpet following his split from the 68-year-old actress.

As Jackman struck a pose before heading out, eagle-eyed followers noticed personal belongings stacked on the floor behind him, including coffee table books, trinkets, an exercise mat, and a photograph.

After seeing the photo on Instagram, one fan said: “Hugh needs to furnish his apartment/townhouse. Poor guy. Looks handsome, though.”

A second added: “There’s these places that sell side tables and wall units. I think it could really help you with lifting the vibe of the room. Oh, and nice suit!”

In a touching tribute to the theme of time, Jackman revealed that the suit he wore to the Met Gala was the same one he had donned for his inaugural appearance in 2004, accompanied by his former wife.

Alongside a selfie en route to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, he wrote: “My original Tom Ford tuxedo. Refitted and repaired.”

When Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness split up, they shared a statement to PEOPLE.

“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” they wrote.

Recognizing the significance of family, their statement further elaborated: “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

The message concluded, indicating the couple’s resolve to maintain their privacy: “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”

Their romance began on the set of the Australian TV series Corelli in 1995.

Reflecting on their first meeting in a 2017 interview, Jackman, reminisced: “Deb, she was a big star… I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. I’ll never forget.

“She took off her seatbelt and she turned around and put out her hand and took off her sunglasses and said, ‘Hi, I’m Deborra-lee Furness, nice to meet you.’ I remember thinking, ‘I like this girl.'”
